Windows XP

Microsoft Windows XP is designed for use on personal computers. It was first released on October 25, 2001. It has been succeeded by Windows Vista, which was released to the general public January 30, 2007. Retail sales of Windows XP ceased on June 30, 2008, but it is still possible to obtain Windows XP from until 31 July 2009 or by purchasing Windows Vista Ultimate or Business from a PC Retailer and then downgrading to Windows XP.

Microsoft Virtual PC

Virtual PC is a free virtualization solution that allows Windows to run virtual machines based on the Windows operating systems. Linux is not supported. Virtual PC also allows the emulation of Windows Mobile devices.

Microsoft Virtual Server

Microsoft Virtual Server is a virtualization solution that allows Windows Server 2003 to run Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2003 and some version of Linux in virtual machines. Originally developed by Connectix, it was acquired by Microsoft prior to release.

VMware server allows you to enjoy the benefits of entry-level server virtualization free. It installs like an application on any existing server OS and partitions a physical server into multiple virtual machines.
